Title: Theoretical Analysis of the Solid State and Optical Characteristics of calcium Sulpide [CaS] Thin Film.
Abstract:
Calcium Sulphide which is one of Chalcogenide group of  thin films has been  analyzed  in this work using theoretical approach in which a scalar wave was propagated through the material thin film medium deposited on a glass substrate with the assumption that the dielectric medium has homogenous reference dielectric constant term, εref and a perturbed dielectric function, △εp(z) representing the deposited thin film medium on surface of the glass substrate as represented in this work. These were substituted into a defined scalar wave equation that was solved first of all by transforming it into Volterra equation of second type and solved using the method of separation of variable on scalar wave and subsequently, Green’s function technique was introduced to obtain a model equation of wave propagating through the thin film that was invariably used in computing the propagated field, Ψ(z) for different input wavelengths representing UV, Visible and Near-infrared regions of field considering the influence of the dielectric constants of the thin film on the propagating field. The results obtained were used in turn to compute the band gaps, solid state and optical properties of the thin film.

Biography:
Dr. Emmanuel Ifeanyi Ugwu was promoted to the rank of full professor of solid State Physics and Material Science during 2014/2015 academic session in Ebonyi State University where I served from 1999 to 2021, but now I have joined the service of Nigeria Army University in the Department of Physics where I am currently the head of the Department. I got my B.Sc. and Master in Science from Nnamdi Azikiwe University; Awka, Nigeria where I majored in Solid State Physics was in 1994 and 1997 respectively. My PhD which I completed in 2014 from Ebonyi State University I also majored in the same area, but this time I focused in Computational nanoscience.I served as a visiting Associate Professor to University of Jos during 2015-2017. I have attended many workshops and also presented papers in so many conferences within and outside Nigeria with more than eighty-five journal publications with some chapter contributions to textbooks. My research interest is in Nanoscince/ Mathematical modeling. I had served as one of the members of a technical program committee in a lot of conferences and also currently I serve as one of the editorial board member of not less than five international Journal publishing outfits.
RESEARCH INTEREST: Solid State Physics/ Nanaoscience and Electromagnetic Wave
