In recent time effort is been made by researchers all over the world to developed composites materials that will be eco-friendly and low cost. Based on these, this current study focused on the development of sustainable polymer composite for structural and engineering application. Agrowaste such as: bagasse, banana peduncle, rice husk was used in the development of the sustainable composites using epoxy polymer as the matrix. The mechanical, thermal and fire properties of the polymer were determined.  Epoxy + 20wt% MSSAp composite was produced by solution casting method. The flexural and tensile strength of the composite has been greatly improved upon. The temperature of thermal maximum decomposition of the composite was shifted to a higher temperature for the composite. The work has established agrowaste particles can be used in increasing the mechanical, thermal and fire properties of epoxy matrix composites for engineering application.

Professor Sunday Victor Aigbodion work with the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nigeria. He is a scholar of international repute and currently a visiting Professor to the University of Johannesburg as well as University of Benin Nigeria. Prof Aigbodion has published over one hundred and eighty-four (184) research papers in several local, international journals and conferences.
